Late Night Rantings of a College Freshman

[ Friday, March 22, 2002 ]

A couple of nights ago I was going through my drawers and found these old disks from high school and before of the stories and poems that i created when I was still following my dream of becoming a writer. Yup it was pretty interesting reading some of these. Here was my favorite poem... I thought that it was going to be the start of the book I wanted to publish. I still kind have that dream going on, but I doubt that it will ever happen. It would be nice, but i guess some things were just meant to stay dreams. Well here's that poem..........
A Baby-sitters Typical night
Oh how I love to chase kids all night,
reading stories, and settling fights.
Watch a movie, eat a snack,
youngsters going through my knapsack.
An invisible friend, has an invitation to lunch,
his residence is behind the off-white couch.
We eat so much candy, were bouncing off walls,
I’m starting to worry someone will fall.
One wants to do this game, and another that,
the youngest just stole the seat where his brother sat.
The five year old argues for two kinds of dessert,
some day, he’ll be high in politics with merit.
Bedtime deadline, not always met,
kids always claim, ”it’s not time for bed yet!”
Pushing and shoving, dragging them away from their play,
I get them in bed……three quarters of the way.
Finally rest is in order for me,
I relax in a chair, and watch some T.V .

Okay so I know...it's pretty goofy. But to me it was real. It was something i wanted so bad I could taste it. I guess a big part of it was that I felt so isolated from everything around me...that I want for once to show that I could do something really cool, that would make me feel like I could do something...

Well, out with the old and in with the new. I guess my old composition notebook just won't cut it anymore. Well, i don't know what else to say right now. There's not much going on around here other than the usual...studying... This weekend promises to be a fun filled joy of art history papers, philosophy essays, comparative Politics surveys and much more. Sometimes I get this feeling that I'm going to be studying like this for the rest of my life, with papers, tests and Kant readings hanging over my head. I mean jobs are probably pretty much the same deal. I just wish I had some more free time and a couple other things. Oh well, I guess only time will tell. Well I'm out for now...
